Hi All:
Anything from US that you buy at Canadian stores are usually very
expensive, relative to buying directly from the States.
Unfortunately, if you're living in Canada and you buy from the States
directly, you have to pay GST (tax) AND a handling charge of $5, no matter
how much the GST will be. In addition, there may be broker fees, shipping
charges from the US store (Amazon, for example), courier fees, not to
mention the forever weakening Cdn dollar.
I once bought George Forman's Lean and Mean grill from one of the US TV
informercials. The price was quite reasonable, with a decent discount.
But adding up all the exchange rate, GST, broker fee, courier fee, GST and
handling charge, I came to the shocking realization that I could have
bought the grill cheaper in Canada.
THAT is an unfortunate fact of life if you live in Canada.
Regards,
Wong
