RE: ATHM

I'm an @Home user in Plano, TX (northern 'burb of Dallas). I was one of the
first to get the service in this area when it was finally offered. In the
first 2 months, we had a LOT of problems as they got the infrastructure
tuned up. I called tech support almost daily to report almost daily
outages. Fortunately most of them were during the eveings but some during
market hours. One tech told me that they were replacing some 3Com routers
with Cisco and shortly after that, the problems cleared up and has been
quite reliable for the last couple of months. Performance is and was always
exellent when the system was up. And I did get a free month's service for
putting up with the headaches of being a pioneer in my neighboorhood.

Jim,
We are getting @home here so I asked about it on the
qcharts onelist and got a preponderance of
negatives -- mostly that they are a long way from
getting their act together.

Was looking for something that wouldn't bog down
during market hours after all sorts of bad vibes from
using my local dialup providers and MSN [hadn't tried
Mindspring because they use the old Netcom pop] --
just now ran into Inreach and would recommend it
highly.

uf,
Here's hoping they have learned and improved <G>.
So far no problems
here at all, but I haven't been on very long yet.
