Hello,

No, the type of the variable depends on type of value you assign.
For example:

varx = 5; // this will be simple numeric variable

if( varx == 5 )
{
    printf("test numeric variable");
}

To convert from array to simple number use LastValue or SelectedValue
or [] subscript operator as explained in the AFL Reference Guide part of 
the manual.
