Kris and everyone that has offered suggestions - thank you for your help.
 
It was the // lines at the top with the Do Not Remove warnings -  that when removed - allowed the code to run correctly.
 
I'm testing version 4.60 in answer to all your other questions.

If you have copied the whole MACD code from the Built
in indicators and pasted into a new Custom one, have
you tried removing the

//--Indicator-End-- -- don't remove this line
// MACD commentary

at the top?
