The Group's principal activities are to provide paging and messaging,
cellular, and two-way radio services. The products include: Paging
services, Specialized Mobile Radio LTR Trunking and Two-way Radio
sales and services. The Paging services are basically of four types:
numeric, alphanumeric, tone-only, and tone-plus-voice. The Group owns
60 FCC licensed frequencies of which, 34 are operated for its
wireless message paging services. It is also an authorized dealer for
selling and servicing two-way radios of Kenwood, ICOM and
Yeasu/Standard. The products and services are marketed under the
Communitronics name.
The wireless paging industry is penetrating the consumer market on a
massive scale. Mobile communications is becoming the most practical
and affordable communications option available to the general
consumer. Until recently, paging has been the tool of businesses and
government. Today, however, pagers are used by college students,
teenagers, mothers and babysitters. Forrester Research studies show
that the percentage of the US population with a wireless device of
any kind will jump from 37 percent last year to 61.5 percent in 2005.
Associated revenue will jump from $52.4 billion in 2000 to $101.2
billion in 2005. Research firm IDC states that $6.6 billion will be
attributed to hand held devices in 2005.
