- It will be interesting to have 2 AFL functions that give
consistent result in Commentary, Indicator and AutoAnalysis
lastvalue(array) : give the value of the last
data
cursorvalue(array) : give the value at the cursor (or closest
value if no data is available at the last cursor position date)
- You can also use the cursorvalue date to always leave
the chart to the cursor position when you change Tab, View or Securities !
Currently the chart are always scrolling back to the last
value and I don't think it's a behavior that most users want !
My original post wasn't specific to WriteVal or Commentary. It
presented the different think, in my opinion, that could be Improved in
AmiBroker concerning the lastvalue, the current chart position and the chart
scrolling view position.
1) Like Dimmitris said before, have a consistency in the
return value of AFL lastvalue() functions whenever it is used in Autoanalyser,
Indicator Builder or Commentary. That is, give the lastvalue
loaded.
2) Have a curorvalue() or another function as an added feature
to be able to make some calculation and drawing relative to the current chart
position. These functions could be used consistently in autoanalyser, the
commentary or/and the Indicator builder. And your are right, in Commentary the
function doesn't add any value because every calculation is already done
relative to one position, the cursor position. The only reason to have in
Commentary is for consistency ! But it can add value to the Indicator Builder
and the AutoAnalyser..
3) I was also presenting a different problem: every time
you do something that refresh the chart (Changing tab, view, security, scaling,
refresh commentary, etc...) The scrolling is immediately go to the last value in
the chart but I think it should stay in the current position. A different
version of this same problem was noted several time by different user.
Anyway I think you are well aware of this problem !
Again sorry if I wasn't clear or I am still not clear enough
in my explanation !
Best
Jon.

Hi,
But... you can not draw lines from Commentary.
Commentary allows you to generate text and
buy/sell arrows.
